Room Setup Trick

Here's a great room setup trick to learn from my public speaking course: Ask someone from the wait staff or hotel maintenance crew what some of the problems with the room might be.

They might point you to a bothersome light switch or some other annoying problem. They know the rooms and their advance warning will give you a chance to figure out a way to handle the problem. Chances are they won't offer their advice unless you ask. Asking questions before your presentation is key to your public speaking success.
